Water Level Details
GOOD. Water slightly stained; 70-74 degrees; 8.18 feet below pool. Look for heavy traffic on the lake this weekend with the Memorial Day holiday. The north end and Wise County Park in particular will be quite busy. Sand Bass and hybrids have been active in the main lake. You may see some sand bass surfacing activity early and late with propeller topwater baits. Fish can pop up anywhere at any time. Always approach them quietly to avoid spooking them. Largemouth bass are prowling the shorelines picking off the last of the shad spawn. Try a loud topwater bait, whopper plopper or chatterbait, along the face of the dam or main lake points. The best bite will be early and late. Crappie should be setting up on their favorite brush piles and docks. Try them on the brush with minnows or "shoot docks" with jigs. Channel catfish should be actively spawning off rocky banks. Prepared baits or shrimp under corks in shallow water will work. Report by Keith Bunch, Lake Bridgeport Guide Service. This week is National Safe Boating Week, for more information check out Texas Parks and Wildlife online and search for “Boating Safety Tips.” Happy Memorial Day!
