Lake Bridgeport

Fishing Report from TPWD (Feb. 22)

GOOD. Water clear; 50 degrees; 15.37 feet below pool. Lake Bridgeport is holding around 15 feet low. Water is stained with temperatures in the upper 40s to lower 50s. The low water ramp on U.S. Route 380 and the ramp at the dam are the best bets for launching. Sand bass and hybrids have been holding in the main lake. They are very deep and the bite very light. The deadstick method has put some in the boat. Catfish have been good on cut bait. A partial shad kill has the catfish feeding hard on dead bait. Look shallow and work your way deeper. Largemouth bass should be well into their pre-spawn pattern. Try a black and blue jig and craw in warmer, protected water. Crappie remain scattered, deep water around docks are the best bet. They should be heading to their pre-spawn areas pretty quickly. Report by Keith Bunch, Lake Bridgeport Guide Service.
